Simona Kumpė – Kimono

In this workshop we invite you to get to know the traditional Japanese art of dress! Up close, you will discover the kimono and hakama, their history and the particulars of wearing them.

What do we really know about the kimono? What is it for, how many kinds exist, and do Japanese people still wear these garments today? These questions will be answered by Japanologist Simona Kumpė – a lecturer in Japanese at Vytautas Magnus University and a member of its Asian Studies Centre, who has been interested in Japanese culture for nearly two decades.
