Mariko Shimizu – Ikebana
The traditional Japanese art of flower arranging – ikebana presented by Mariko Shimizu, 3rd grade instructor of the Sogetsu Ikebana School and wife of the Ambassador of Japan.
I started Sogetsu Ikebana class under Professor Koka Fukushima, Director of the Sogetsu School Instructor’s Association, in Tokyo since 2010. As my husband is a diplomat, I accompany him to various countries. It was not easy to have lessons regularly, and it took a long time to become a 3rd Grade Instructor. I have continued Ikebana in the United States, France, Tunisia and here in Lithuania. Now I am a Sogetsu Teachers’ Association (STA) member.
Living with flowers gives me happiness and energy. I’m so happy to share this with you all. The appearance of flowers, like our lives, is changing constantly, and each encounter with a flower is a once-in-a-lifetime moment.
