Dances & Performances
Awa Odori
A dance troupe visiting from Japan, supported by the Japan Foundation – performing in the Baltic states for the first time.

Awa Odori is a traditional Japanese dance with more than 400 years of history. Every August, festivals take place during which groups called "ren" dance as they parade through city streets to the upbeat rhythms of the shamisen and taiko drums, known as "zomeki".
"Kikusui-ren" is one of the Awa Odori dance groups ("ren"), founded in Tokyo in 1964. It stands out for the varied sounds of traditional musical instruments and for dances marked by a harmonious, shared group beauty. In our wish to bring the charm of Awa Odori to as many people as possible, and for our dance to bring joy and smiles to the widest audience we can, we actively perform abroad and share our activities on social media.
Today we invite you to enjoy, with all your heart, the energy, passion and vitality of Japan's festivals.
